Change is constant.
Each of us has our own idea of what it means to be prepared before change happens. Instead of simply hoping for the best, being ready gives you more control over your circumstances.
Think back to the changes you've experienced in the last few years. Do any of these sound familiar? Starting a new job, facing a loss of income, welcoming a new family member, dealing with illness, pursuing education, getting married, moving, becoming an empty nester, going through a divorce, experiencing a weather emergency, navigating the pandemic, taking on a home improvement project, retiring, or finally going on that bucket-list vacation? The list could go on.
Some of these events are expected and planned for, while others catch us by surprise.
I’ve taken steps to be prepared. I have insurance for my car, home, personal belongings, and long-term care. I update my resume annually, so I’m ready for any unexpected job opportunity. My computers are backed up offsite, and I've had to use those backups before. I always buy travel insurance.
I know my tolerance for risk, and I know which opportunities I want to be prepared for. What about you? Do you know your risk tolerance and how ready you are for life’s changes?
This website offers training, tools, and resources to help you find and meet your own level of readiness.
